Adopt-A-Chow

Little did we know that when we saw the ad in the newspaper for a Chow that we would find ourselves becoming so involved. We responded to the ad and eventually became the proud parents of our first Chow.

We told the president of Animal Aid Association, Inc. that we could foster from time to time since we had just the one Chow, and a very large home and fenced in yard. One thing led to another and before we knew it we were busy with phone calls, visits to shelters, and driving all around picking up and delivering Chows.

In the beginning we used to place ads in the newspaper trying to place the rescues we'd take in. But the going was slow and we knew there just had to be another way. It was about that time that we discovered the local large pet store chains made space available to rescue groups for the showing of the rescues in order to find adoptive homes. That was the beginning of Chow Rescue.

You will find some of the stories very disturbing, but know that for each sad story, there is a happy ending. All of the adopted Chows live in wonderful homes of the people who met them, fell in love, and just had to add the Chows to their families. Some of the families have adopted more than one from us over the years, some already had Chows in their families that they were getting companions for, while others have just the one Chow.

What makes these kids all the more special is that no matter what they have endured in the past, they are all the absolutely sweetest, loving, little fur children that anyone could possibly wish to meet or love. These pages are a partial representation of the Chows that we have had the privilege to know and love over the years since we began our own Chow family.
