Bear is a sweet 2 1/2 yr. old Chow originally purchased from a breeder whose family took him to the shelter as they said they didn't have enough time for him. Bear had been kept outside in their backyard, but had learned to love playing with all the neighbor children. He enjoys playing with stuffed animals, socks, and balls. His past owners described him as being active, playful, and smart. This can be confirmed by his present foster family. He did not know how to play with other dogs very well when he first came to Chow Rescue, but now loves playing with other dogs. Bear does not, however, like cats and barks furiously at adoption days at the cats in the adoption center when he sees them, trying to get to them. He also is not good about birds either. Consequently it would be best that he not be in a home with cats, birds, or most other small animals.

As of August 11, Bear moved into his new home. His new family has two young boys and a ferret. They know about Bear's propensity toward going after small critters, so they will be keeping the two of them well separated.

Because Bear is very gentle and good with children, this was a perfect home for him. His mom and dad are fixing up the yard so Bear will have a whole section of it just for himself separate from the play area of the children where the swing set, etc. are located.

Bear's first night in his new home, he chose to sleep not just in his mom and dad's room, but in their bed with them ;-] Looks like he has already made himself totally at home! For a boy who had spent his life chained up outside, he isn't shy at all about making himself comfortable.
