Red, approx. 5 yr. old female. Chelsea had belonged to a family who'd had her since she was 5 weeks old. The family had moved to a home where the landlord would not allow them to keep her, so they took her to the father's home where she was kept outdoors chained up to a tree for at least six months. Finally, knowing they could not keep her, the rescue associate of ours they had called to ask for help in finding Chelsea a new home decided it was in Chelsea's best interest to get her physically into the rescue system. Because she was so terribly matted, her coat was cut to the bare minimum. Unfortunately, since she'd not been kept on preventative, she tested positive for Heartworm and had to be treated for that before she could be spayed. Chelsea was raised with a young boy who is now six, but had not been exposed to other dogs or cats. She is a sweet lady who just wants some love and care.
One day one of our contacts drove up from further south in VA to the WARL shelter and picked up both Chelsea and Bear to take home to their new forever home! They are all doing well and have a wonderful new life.
