Chestnut

Chestnut who appears to be a Chow/Spitz mix was found running the streets in the Accokeek, MD area. Apparently she and another puppy (littermate) had been tied out to a bush and left. Someone came along and tried to rescue them, but lost hold of Chestnut. One day a young man saw her and actually managed to catch her.
The rescuer who became the foster parent called another rescue group, as well as us, but they never returned his calls. We invited him to bring Chesie to our adoption days at the PetsMart as we didn't have any foster care facilities available, but would do all we could to help get her placed if he could work with us. So, every weekend he would bring her to the store and stay with her until the end of the day. Meanwhile, he worked with her and did some preliminary training with her.
About 2 months after Chesie was first brought to us, a young couple came into the store and decided to adopt her along with another Chow/Sptiz mix that we had gotten out of Orange County, VA. As Chestnut is rather rambunctious and had a few aggressive mannerisms, the couple scheduled the two Chows for training immediately.
Unfortunately, Chesie started having a few problems in the home with one of the children, so she was returned to us and is looking for a new home.
