Cricket

In Durham, Pleasant Drive Animal Rescue took in a chow named "Cricket" that was found wandering in traffic in front of Noelle’s house.  He was taken to the vet office where she works part-time, but they were totally full for the labor day weekend, so although it went completely and totally against her grain, she had no option but to have him sent to the local shelter.  Cricket spent five business days there, but with the help of a local rescue organization that has official non-profit status, Noelle was able to get him back.

Cricket is now current on vaccinations and is scheduled to be neutered next Friday.  He had a urinary tract infection that was treated with antibiotics, and has a strong heartworm positive test.  The plan is to neuter him, let him recover completely from the surgery, and then treat the heartworms.

Cricket is a sweet boy, very good on leash, still a bit aloof, but much better than when he was first found.  He weighs 49lbs. is approximately two years old, and black with some red highlights (apparently he’s spent quite some time in the sun)!  Cricket is pretty badly matted in places, but seems to be afraid of the noise of electric clippers, reacting with a sharp turn of his head.  Noelle plans to be at the vet hospital the day of his surgery so that while he's still under sedation she can shave off his mats without causing him undo stress.

If you think you have room in your home and heart for this dear boy, call Noelle at 919-598-3114 or cell 919-594-7605; e-mail polly13@verizon.net.
