Duffy
Duffy is a beautiful, blond, 6 1/2 yr old Chow/Retriever/Sheppard Mix, gotten as a stray at 4 mo old. After her parent’s daughter was born, their free time to devote to Duffy increasingly dwindled. They both work FT and rather than neglect her, they started asking friends with pets if they would help. Unfortunately, Duffy did not get along well with the friends’ pets as she doesn’t do well with cats or small dogs. Duffy is pretty shy (especailly around men). She has been treated well - up to date on shots and kept groomed.
Duffy has lots of energy and needs a fenced-in secure space where her owner can give her the attention she needs and deserves. She is sweet but tends to play too rough with smaller dogs and cats in particular. She is fine with their daughter - but tends to play too rough for a 20 month old who has only been walking well for 6 months. They have never had any issues. The 2nd friend they’d tried had a 10 year old girl and no problems. Duffy seems to respond better to women and loves to play with other dogs her size (73 lbs) that can take her rough-housing. Duffy tends to be shy, even skiddish at times but warms up to people with other dogs - loves to run at the dog field in Richmond whenever they had a chance to take her.
