Kaipo is one of 8 puppies that were due to be dumped by the owner of their parents. A lady who works with the SPCA in their area asked the man to take the puppies to the shelter at least so they would have a better chance at life. Then we were called that we may rescue the puppies and find them homes. By the time we were able to make arrangements to get the puppies, the shelter had already adopted out one of the pups.

The puppies were supposedly 8 weeks old, but once our rescue associate got them, she said they were about 4 weeks old, judging by their size and weight. We were unable to take the puppies at that time, so she was going to hold on to them until we could pick them up.

One of our other associates wanted to adopt two of the female puppies for herself, so she drove to Roanoke, VA to pick them up. She also took the two males to raise until they were old enough to adopt out. That left three females in Roanoke. Bt the time we were able to take the pups, the associate fostering them decided to keep two of the girls. Consequently, the only one we needed to place was the one we'd named Kaipo.

When we first posted the listing of the puppies on our website, we'd gotten an application immediately from a lady who had an older Chow and was looking for a new companion for him. His prior companion had passed away a couple of years earlier. So, we picked Kaipo up, had her for a couple of days, and then placed her in her new forever home. Kaipo is very happy in her new home with her older Chow brother Buster.
