Kapeka (Elizabeth)

10/16/99

December 4, 1999

Kapeka is one of six puppies born to her parents, Simba and Baby, in the foster family's guest room 29 June 1999. Of the six, Kapeka was one of two who did not have PPM (persistent pupillary membrane). She was always very quick to learn everything and was the first to be given a name.

One day in early October a family came into the store to see our Chows and immediately fell in love with Kapeka. They understood that we did not allow the puppies to be adopted until after they were at least 5.5 mos. - 6 mos. of age and were altered. But that did not discourage them in the least. They put in their application for her and came to the store to visit her every weekend they could. Finally, we placed Kapeka with her new family where she has a mom, dad, and sister. She is very well loved and is doing well adjusting to her new home.

Kapeka's family moved to upper State New York. The first time they took her to the lake, Kapeka ran directly to the end of the pier and jumped into the lake! Kapeka may love the lake, but she will have nothing to do with the family's back yard pool.

A few days before the family left town for NY, we took the two sisters to say good-bye to Kapeka. The following are the pictures we took at our farewell visit.
