Princess' puppies

Princess and her family were rescued from the animal shelter in Queenstown, MD. Her mate was also brought in but he was destroyed immediately because when they reached in to get the puppies, he growled and snapped at them, so he was labeled vicious. The puppies and Princess were about to be put down when the animal control officer decided she would take them and contact a rescue group. She contacted us when the puppies were about 2 weeks old. One of our members drove up there to pick up Princess and the pups. Princess was very protective about her puppies, but after seeing that she would not be hurt, she relaxed. The puppies were named by the original foster care giver: Cindy, Chloe, Karma, & Buttercup.

The original foster care giver had this to say about Sydney who was originally called Karma: "Karma is very zen. She patiently waits her turn to be picked up and hugged. She too loves people and is sensitive to us. She is very gentle, loves to cuddle and is very affectionate."
When Sydney was about 3 months old, she was very active and outgoing. She would come running up to you and stand up asking to be picked up. She loved to give kisses and loves biting on your hands...of course, the foster care givers worked on training the pups to bite on more appropriate things.
Sydney was very quick at learning to use the doggie door and would run in and out of the house to do her duty and play with the others. In the morning when they were let out of the puppy pen she and her sisters would jump all over her foster care givers while chasing after them as they headed for the door. Sydney and Missy (originally called Buttercup) would go out the door to do their duty right away with their mom Princess. Kokuanani (originally called Cindy) would lag behind and find distractions to keep her hanging out in the house.

One day one of our past adoptive families came to us wanting to add a new baby to the family. When they saw Sydney, they decided she would make a good addition. Not long after adopting her, Sydney's parents found out that there was soon to be yet another new arrival in their household. Now Sydney has an older Chow sister, and two human brothers.
