Kawika is one of six puppies born to his parents, Simba and Baby, in the foster family's guest room 29 June 1999. From the time Kawika was very young he would scream and wet all over himself when picked up. When we would take him to the vet he would growl and snap at the vet. The vet advised us that Kawika would probably not make a good pet as he may very well become a fear biter. So, we have worked very closely with him, trying to get him as well socialized as possible. It has been slow, but he has come along rather well.
A lady who used to live next door to the foster parent's home came into the store one day, saw Kawika, and immediately fell in love with him. She has come into the store to spend time with him every weekend she can and we even had a play date over at her house. She already has a female Chow, Kodiak, who did not seem to mind Kawika coming into her home at all. Once Kawika got comfortable, the visit went very well and they are bonding quite nicely.
Kawika went to his new home, and loves his older Chow sister and new parents. Kawika still gets to see his Chow parents as his mommy's father adopted Baby and Simba. Every so often when Kawika's mom and dad go out of town, he and Kodi get to visit with granddad.
