Mindy is a beautiful girl who came to us by way of Lenoir County Shelter, NC. She was such a sweet and gentle girl that the ladies at the shelter called us, asking if we had any space available for her. So, we drove down and met the ladies at our usual spot, halfway between our respective locations.

We took Mindy to many adoption days before her adoptive mom came to the store and fell in love with her. Most people didn't want Mindy because she is a rather large girl, but that wasn't of concern to her new family. They saw her for the wonderful girl that she is and wanted to make a home for her. As Mindy's mom was a college student, she moved up north for the school year. But once the year was over, she came back down here to live with grandmom.

When her mom moved into an apt. where she couldn't keep Mindy, the little girl remained with her grandmom. And when her grandmom moved, she moved with her. Now Mindy and her grandmom live in Washington, D.C. in a building where everyone knows her. The ladies who live near her love having her around as no one can get past her door without her letting them know someone is afoot! Whenever they get a chance to, Mindy and her family stop by the store to visit. Mindy just gets more and more beautiful as time goes by!

3/13/06: Our beloved Mindy left us today. She was such a wonderful girl and was so very fortunate to have been given a wonderful second life by her original mom and grandmom/later mom who loved her as she deserved. We will always miss you baby girl...
