Alikelani, who was originally named Nikki, came to us as a 4 month old black chow chow. Her name was changed because she would not answer to Nikki. She was purchased along with her brother Max from a breeder. Her brother had gotten away from his owner and was missing for about a week--luckily he was found. But he seemed to have brought some problems home with him and he was fighting with Alike. The owner decided she would keep Max and recondition him. Alike, however was becoming scared of her brother. Max would fight over toys or just about anything else. Alike was very outgoing & loved to play, so her first foster mom decided she deserved to go to a home where she would no longer be afraid. She was up to date on all her shots and was spayed when she was 6 months.
Alike went to our adoption days until one day a young couple came into the store, saw her, and decided that either she or another one of our rescues would make a great companion for their dog. They had a sleep over with Alike and before they ever got a chance to have Hokulea over for a weekend, they'd decided that they just couldn't do without that sweet little girl who had stolen not only their hearts, but that of their dog as well. Today Alike, her doggie brother, and their parents live in their new home happily where the kids have much more space in which to run about and play.
