Tawny

Due to a death of his female owner, Tawny is available for adoption.  He is a four year old, sweet, intelligent, loving, obedient boy, who is always ready to please.  Just look at that face. He loves to ride in the car.  He is used to being on a farm with other dogs, goats, geese, ducks and other fowl, as well as, cats. He was top dog, and was free to run on the farm. One of his jobs was to herd in the goats to their pen when they wandered too far.  In addition to commands, he watched body language and hand-signals, to see if you would give him his next job to do.  As his owners’ special guardian, he would hold his owners hand in his mouth while walking to the barn with the goats.  He has been a gentle teacher to puppies, sharing his squeaky toys and bones.  Tawny would also teach them manners, by placing his paw on them to make them stop.  Tawny, when introduced to other dogs he did not know, he was good natured and tolerant of them.  Tawny is good with everyone.  Tawny has been very resilient in overcoming changes, and he deserves to show you what a good boy he can be in a loving home.

(Last year Tawny was traumatized by a different male caretaker, while his owner was hospitalized.  He was surrounded by constant chaos, the firing of guns, and loud booming voices. Recently, during a medical emergency, Tawny was sprayed with mace, because they thought he was too close to the entrance. His eyes are fine, after flushing the mace away.

He is good with everyone and would make a good family pet, but may be partial to females. He was the favored one with is owner.

His shots were given by his owner, bought through Southern States).

If you think you may have space in your family for him, call Janet at 434-239-6117 or email: janetcabrera1@comcast.net.
